A man believed to be in his 30s on Sunday drowned in a pond at Teacher-Mante in the Ayensuano District of the Eastern region.
The child was, however, rescued by an eyewitness.
The man could not be saved despite intervention by a joint rescue team from the Ayensuano National Disaster Management Organization, NADMO, and Ghana National Fire Service from Nsawam.
Kwadwo Minta, a Disaster Control Officer with NADMO told Accra-based Starr FM that NADMO called for emergency assistant from the Ghana Fire Service to apply hydraulic pressure to pump out water from the pond in attempt to rescue the man. But all those efforts proved futile.
The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the Nsawam Government Hospital Morgue by the Police.
